As a minority in the country of birth (South Africa) and my adopted homeland(USA), my experience has been as an outsider, with a proudly unique perspective. Having always been in it but not of it, I consider things with a sceptical, some would say jaundiced eye. I am repulsed by mindless conservatism, particularly as practiced by various practitioners on AM talk radio and TV, but am equally weary of liberal paternalism.
This Blog will consist of (mild mannered) rants about politics, pop culture, world events and other activities ripe with human foibles.

Hi Malcolm! I am one of the students in our Wed PM writing class (the one who brought organi birds last time). I finally got a chance to go to your blog site. Wow, I am very impressed! First because you write so well and I can see this is a lot of work to write a new entry as often as you do. But also with your political views, which closely mirror those of my husband and me. Hi Malcolm: Now I have your blog saved my FAVS! Enjoyed your piece on Spitzer. You truly are a gifted writer. I would strongly encourage you to submit more work for publication, if you aren’t already! I’m off to Colorado to visit my daughter–cannot wait to see her. I empathize with being so far from your daughter–she sounds like a great kid. Soon she’ll be home with many amazing stories to share (and hopefully write about like her dad!)
